Significance of Outreach in Biofuels Arena

The role of outreach and extension is often to empower others to make informed decisions.  This is often done through some form of technology transfer or the delivery of science-based knowledge to people.  The model often used to deliver science-based knowledge is a traditional method of moving research discoveries from research to extension or outreach to the producer or consumer.  The goal of this technology transfer is often to lead to the acceptance and adoption of the research findings.  If technology transfer is effective for the biofuels arena one will see the adoption of new research findings that lead to the exploration of new markets, changes in production practices, adoption of new management options ultimately leading to the development of a successful and sustainable biofuels industry.
